Do coins expire? Inactive accounts and coin balances

Quick answer

Last updated: July 15, 2026

Yes. HelloMillions' Terms of Service say Virtual Coins automatically expire when an account becomes dormant, defined as no gameplay using Virtual Coins for 60 consecutive days. The Terms also allow the account to be closed after 60 days of inactivity. Logging in alone is not the activity definition used in the current dormancy clause.

Quick Navigation

When do HelloMillions coins expire?

Version 2.2 of the HelloMillions Terms of Service, effective July 1, 2026, says Virtual Coins automatically expire when a customer account becomes dormant. It defines dormant as no gameplay activity using Virtual Coins for 60 consecutive days.

The wording covers Virtual Coins generally, rather than only coins received free. It also focuses on gameplay using Virtual Coins. That is more specific than merely opening the site or signing in.

Terms can change, so check the current version if your account is approaching a long period without play.

Is logging in enough to prevent dormancy?

The current Terms define dormancy by gameplay activity using Virtual Coins, not by login alone. Older guidance referred to last login or general account activity, but the current Terms govern. Do not rely on login or a daily-reward claim as guaranteed protection from dormancy.

The current Terms govern dormancy. A login or daily-reward claim is not guaranteed to protect an account from dormancy; gameplay activity using Virtual Coins is the stated measure.

If preserving access to a balance matters, review the current clause directly and ask Customer Support for account-specific guidance rather than relying on the older Help Center shorthand.

Can an inactive account also be closed?

Yes. A separate clause in the current Terms says HelloMillions may close an account that has been inactive for 60 days or longer and is therefore dormant. The Terms say advance notice is not required, although HelloMillions may choose to provide it.

Coin expiration and account closure are related but distinct outcomes:

Outcome Current Terms language
Coin expiration Automatic when the account becomes dormant
Account closure HelloMillions reserves the right to close a dormant account

Closing your own account also forfeits continued access to and use of the Virtual Coins associated with it.

Do Gold Coins and Sweepstakes Coins have different dormancy rules?

The July 1, 2026 Terms use the collective term Virtual Coins in the dormancy clause and do not set separate 60-day rules there for Gold Coins and Sweepstakes Coins. Do not assume that one balance survives longer than the other.

Gold Coins and Sweepstakes Coins still have different functions. Gold Coins are for entertainment and carry no cash value. Sweepstakes Coins cannot be purchased; they are awarded free through promotions; eligible SC balances can be redeemed for cash prizes. Those differences do not create an exception to the published Virtual Coin dormancy clause.

What should I do before a long break?

First decide whether you want to preserve the account or close it. If you want a break without uncertainty about a coin balance, read the current Terms and contact support before the 60-day point for guidance tied to your account.

If you are stepping away for wellbeing reasons, do not play merely to preserve Virtual Coins. The Player Trust and Safety Controls provide limits, breaks, and self-exclusion options. Personal wellbeing matters more than maintaining a promotional balance.

Save any relevant account statement or balance screenshot with private information masked. A screenshot documents what you saw but does not override the dormancy terms.

What if my coins disappeared before 60 days?

Check the last date of gameplay using Virtual Coins, not only the last login date. Also review transaction or account history for game rounds, promotional expiration, account action, or a balance adjustment.

If the record does not explain the change, contact Customer Support. Include the coin type, amount, last known balance, last gameplay date, date the change was noticed, and masked screenshots. Support can review the account ledger; an outside forum cannot.
